Robert "Bob" Memery

02 March 1929 - 30 October 2014

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Memery, Thursday 30th October at Elizabeth Court Care Centre. Brother to Margaret ‘Sunny’ Girvan and uncle to Michael, Maria, Leslie, Noreen, Eileen and Margaret.

The family have put together this website to inform and advise Bob's many friends, from both the cycling and weigh-lifting worlds, and anyone that knew him.

The funeral service for Bob was held on November 6th 2014, 10:30 at St Agnes RC church, Liverpool, with a guard of honour provided by members of the Merseyside Wheelers cycling club. Followed by a cremation service at Springwood Crematorium, Woolton.

A family and friends reception was held to celebrate the life of Bob Memery, at the Liverpool Cricket Club, when approximately 160 of those family and friends congregated to share their individual memories of Bob.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all the 250+ people that attended across the venues, your attendance and kind words about bob were heart warming and comforting.

Some amazing and inspirational words were spoken about Bob at both the church and the crematorium, and the family would like to encourage people to post their photo's and add any stories about Bob to help ensure his legacy continues.

Overseas Friends

We are aware that Bob has many friends around the world, that would like to attend, but are unable to, therefore we would invite you to
post your messages of condolence via the website, and post any memories of bob you would like to share with family and friends alike.

Taking into account Bob's recent few years the family have requested any donations be given to Dementia UK and as such we have set-up a Just Giving Page for anyone that would like to make a donation to Dementia UK

Dementia UK is a national charity committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia.
Any other cash donations will be handed to the Elizabeth Court Care Centre where Bob spent his final days, and where he was given the very best of care and attention by the dedicated staff.
